I fell in love with corsets when I saw Dua Lipa wearing one in one of her Vogue interviews. It was beautiful as a butterfly and went great with her style and then there’s the ongoing TikTok Corset Challenge on SIX’s “Haus of Holbein”. Corsets are usually considered a Gen Z and late Millenials style, as these are a little revealing and short yet chic, but little did people know that corsets have been in fashion since 100 years ago, only the way of wearing them has changed.
In the 1700s, it can be seen through rare images and paintings that royal women used to wear it on their long frocks. Similarly, men used to wear it on their shirts. You can’t see a more classier thing than this fashion.
But as the times have changed, corsets have become the symbol of hot and revealing outfits, that’s why most people with a modest fashion sense don’t go for corsets.
Today, I aim to show you some classy outfit ideas with corsets that can go with every style and body type. But before that, I want to answer one of the most common concerns ‘why the fashion industry is still obsessed with corsets?’.
I’m pretty sure most of you must have asked this question at least once like why do celebs and influencers love to wear corsets and consider them as a part of their outfits even when there are many different options to alternate them?
Well, the answer is simple. The kind of royalty and class that comes along with a piece of corset can’t be experienced with any other kind of outfit. No matter if you wear a flowery corset during a casual day out, or you go for a glittered corset for your friend’s birthday party, both look utterly beautiful and define your whole personality and vibe.
Well, most of the young women in the Victorian era used to hate corsets for a reason. It troubled them during normal breathing because, at that time, corsets were used just to create hourglass figures. Now, things have changed in a very positive way. Corsets are not worn as basic etiquette but are worn just as a normal outfit, with nothing in mind to show the thin waist or anything else.
Now I think it’s enough chit-chat for us to pave the way for my favorite collections of corset outfit ideas that I hope you would love to flex.
